Sossusvlei

The highest dune of the world are in Sossusvlei. I was curious. And the best is, when you stay two night here. Then you have enough time for the sunrise and the sunset. Two faces of the Sossusvlei. But I haven't so much time - tomorrow I must stay in Walvis Bay.

I started before twilight. The was open at 5 o'clock and I crossed it not so much later. In the darkness I wait of a dirt road for 4WD, but here was the best asphalt.

The dunes are 220 m high. The one part of sand came with the wnd from the inland regions. The other part came about rivers Oranje and Fish river. Yes, they transport the sand in the ocean and the ocean bring the sand at the coast. And then comes the wind and blow the sand in the Sossusvlei.

In Swakopmund or Walvis Bay, is this the same. But the dune are not so high. And so is it possible, the river brake the dunes in a great rain time.

Here in Sossusvlei, at the river Tsauchab it is the same.  But the dune are to great and the Tsauchab to small for a brake the dune. So it is possible, the water collect here in Sossusvlei. Is a rare time to see water under the dunes in Sossusvlei.

Uwe of the Epupafalls said me, in the last year he saw it. And at the Monday, my last check at the doctor, we small talked about  Sossusvlei, and he said at the weekend collected the water in Sossusvlei. 3 day after my visit.

Early on the legs and so I had many time for the back tour to Swakopmund. I was back in the afternoon. Tomorrow the jeep will go on the ocean and I must stay on my legs alone.

Well, now the last but not the least - the last picture of Namibia. But I haven't a picture.
