| To Agadir |
A long stage I had before me. The distance to
Agadir are 1200 km. Monotonous road through the flat and hot Sahara. I said
to me - I must do it in one day.
The road every time in the near of the Atlantic and apparent without end go it to the North. Not so much towns or villages. And every time a straight road. More as I like. Beside the road, left and right, only flat sandy desert of Sahara. A strong wind came from North-West and I had to give maximum of gas to come on 80 km/h. I used also much petrol of 100 km (normal is 7 to 8 litre - now 11 to 12 litre). In the late afternoon came the wind also with sand. When I stood beside my car - the sand bored itself in my skin. I saw my bumper in the next morning. The sand polished it and the colours was off.
I lose the power after 900 km and after the midnight. The wish to sleep was greater as to drive. So I had to sleep. And this was good. I saw the next early morning. To begin the air was wet and dull. And I couldn't see in the night - the flat desert was finish and I stood between little mountains. And soon, 200 km before Agadir, I came in a really landscape of mountains. The Atlas is in the near. The road gone up on the mountain (1200 m) and the dull morning hours would changed for a sunny view over the hills. Little Villages between the hills in this scanty hilly landscape. I remembered me a little bit at the Canaries Islands. La Gomera.
So I arrived Agadir in the morning. I stood here 5 years before and just it was easy to find the right way in the town. Was looking for a hotel and slept a little bit. I had only a short night. |

Agadir - February 29th 1960 - a heavy earth crake
surprised the town. All was destroyed. Nothing stay of the old town here.
Only one the 55 restaurants near the fish market and a old mosque on the
mountain. 15000 poeple lose your life. So it isn't a surprise, when you only
see new houses. Agadir is a young and new town.
Agadir is a port town and a centre of tourism. It is the most expensive town of Morocco. Behind he beach stay many hotels and in the near all things for the tourists and your money. Fast you will get contact with a man here. He want guide you or animate to buy some things. |

I was looking for the fish market. It was the early afternoon and I was thinking to find not so much poeple there. In the near I met a young man. He stood in Germany 9 year and just he work as waiter in one of the 55 restaurants - I want believe at this coincidence. He showed me the fish stands and so I ate fish in his restaurant 19.
By full stomach I gone back. Bought some beer. Today is football time (soccer time). In my room in the hotel I have TV today and so I could see the final of the Champions League. |
