Mopti

I drove to  Mopti and arrived it 6 pm.. I found a small Hotel in the old town. Many girls were here !!?? We in German say - hour hotel. I don't know.

I saved my pictures in the evening and the only one connection of electric power was in the restaurant. Many guys came to me and all want the same - I need a guide tomorrow. But I don't need it. Tomorrow I will drive to Bamako and the little port on the Niger I will find myself.

Mopti is a little town at the Niger and is the Venice of Africa. It is the tourism centre of Mali and a little the same as Marrakech. Many poeple start your trip to the Dogon Country from Mopti. For me was it the exit. I needed money and was looked for a bank. But it was impossible to get money. Apparent nobody want my Dollars. So I had to change on the black market. The only one possibility.

I came in the near of the noon and haven't no more so much time. I visited the port of Mopti. Many poeple and all busy. Poeple of shipbuilding beside the trader of cigarettes, ceramics, fruits or flesh. All in a mess.

And pictures - the same as in Asia. Very difficult - the Islam.

Djenne

I arrived Djenne in the early afternoon. A little old town. The houses are built as all the years before. Made of loam. And this is the sights of this area. But before I had to cross a little river. And it was the same as in Malawi. The ferry stood of dry sand and without guide is the crossing impossible. The result was the same - only 25 cm water and I felt me with a smile eye cheated.

The sun of the noon burnt on me. All gone back in the shadow or the houses. Empty squares and it was the same as "12 o'clock in the noon". Only John Wayne was missing in the scene.

But what can I do? Nothing, I can't change this and so I gone also in my hotel. Wait of the afternoon and then I started my walk trough Djenne

On the great empty square before the mosque is market every Monday. A big market and many the poeple came of all directions. and small villages. Soon I looked for a shady place and a cold Coke. This is the only one what you can do in this time. Terrible.

Around Djenne The sun gone to the horizon and the temperature a little bit down. With Alex from the hotel I did a small excursion in the near villages. There is a other life as in Djenne. And this was true. Little villages. Narrow was built house by house. And the life of you is more naturally and easy as in Djenne. The chief of the village (of the tribe) led us through the lanes.

The villages stay in a big lake in the rain time. The Niger flood the dry and flat land. For somebody a catastrophe - but not here. This is life and all poeple are waiting of the rain and the time after. The time for fields and harvest. Around Djenne

Now, tomorrow I will go to Bamako. I don't know is the Friday a Islamic holyday or not. Is the Friday free, so I have also a free day and time for  Bamako. When not, so I try to get my visa to Mauritania and then I creep me through the area with the bandits.
