| Cape Coast | When I left Accra - stop and go about 25 km. Under the hot sun - a terrible time and I sweat. The faster speed was a nice enjoy for my body. Trough flat, a little bit hilly, landscape I drove to the West. Smoke beside the road - poeple burn down the bush for a new plant. But the bush is not so green as in East- or South Africa - more open and not so much trees. So I came to Cape Coast. |

The Dutch poeple was the first in the year 1637
and occupied this area. Also came the Swedish, Danish ant British poeple and
drove away the predecessor. And the was the castle British in the 1663. It
was a nice place on the Ghanaian "Gold Coast". But the trade
wasn't only one the gold. The slave trade was the big business in the 18th
century. The fort was a great slave market. In the dark and wet dungeons
must waited the poor black poeple of your terrible journey to Europe or
America. About 20 mio. Africans must left your homeland. And so is normally
- the homeowner
Cape Coast Castle haven't much
friend here and needed the big cannons all around.
Then I looked for a hotel and found the Savoy - see right.

In the lanes of Cape Coast |
In the fresh air of morning, so I was thinking, I would like go trough the lanes of Cape Coast and soon I saw - it is hot also in the morning. I excepted empty lanes at the Sunday. But nothing. Many poeple stood there. Not so much as yesterday in the afternoon. The lttle market was open and you could buy all things. Every time the poeple greet me with "Hey, White man." or" Amigo." And often I had a small talk. And the I needed my fresh wind and drove to the North to Kumasi. |
